Michael Spenceley is a movement director and dancer, born and bred in Middlesbrough and currently based in London.
Michael trained at Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance, where he won a Wayne Sleep Scholarship. Since graduating he has been working continuously in the arts; performing, movement directing and teaching.
He is interested in making work in unusual spaces and exploring the relationship between movement and singing.
He specializes in physical theatre and contact work.
As an artist, the most important thing is to make the performance honest. There has to be truth in it, which makes it beautiful, magical. It’s all about keeping it alive and to create a new world on the stage.
Michael is represented by Associated Arts.
