Dancer / choreographer
My name is Michael; born and bred in Middlesbrough, I currently live in London. I trained at Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance, where I won a Wayne Sleep Scholarship. Since graduating I have been working continuously in the arts; performing, choreographing and teaching.
The shows that I make are accessible for all kinds of people, whether they are old or young, whether they go to the theatre all the time or never have before. I love making work in unusual spaces and I specialize in physical theatre and contact work.
I want to get into the depths of the audience’s heart, by getting to the heart of the show.
As an artist, the most important thing to me is that a performance is honest. There has to be truth in it, which makes it beautiful, magical. It’s all about keeping it alive and to create a new world on the stage.
My most recently projects included being movement director on Simplicus Simplicissimus at Sadler's Wells, Max the Brave with the Britten Sinfonia and performed in We Had A Black Dog with Red Oak Theatre.
