His collaborative work with acclaimed companies, including Welsh National Opera (WNO) and Longborough Festival Opera, showcases his ability to infuse productions with artistry, innovation, and a touch of magic.

Michael's profound expertise in international projects is evident through his notable contributions to acclaimed productions such as "Un forza di destino" at Teatro Sao Carlos in Lisbon and "Un ballo in maschera" at Theatre Bonn in Bonn, Germany. His artistic talent and creative vision have seamlessly traversed geographical boundaries, captivating audiences from diverse cultures and contexts.

The Journey

Michael Spenceley, a graduate of the esteemed Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance, is a dynamic force in the arts. Recognized for his exceptional talent, he was awarded the prestigious Wayne Sleep Scholarship during his training. With a continuous journey in performance, movement direction, and teaching, he infuses his work with passion and expertise.

In 2012, Michael Spenceley embarked on his journey as a movement director and made an enduring impression as one of the 11 dance captains selected by the choreography team for the unforgettable opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games in London.

Driven by a fascination for unconventional spaces and the interplay between movement and singing, Michael delves into the realms of exploration. His specialization lies in the realm of physical theatre and contact work, where he crafts captivating narratives that push boundaries and ignite the imagination.

Our terrific international cast of Rachel Deatherage, James Beddoe, Elora Ledger, Jessica Wise, Toki Hamano, Denver Smith and Andrew Sparling are co-directed by Michael Spenceley and Jenny Miller.  Our Musical Director is Laurence Panter, with Lucy Mulgan and Iñigo Mikeleiz Berrade and our set is designed by Jane Bruce, costumes by Natascha Stoll.
